RFID hybrid cards with their chip card structure are a specialty. Not to be confused with dual interface, hybrid cards are equipped with two or more chips. They can have a mixture of two different RFID antennas & chips, or a contact chip and an RFID chip. However, they are always different chips. For example, the contact chip can be a SLE4442 while the contactless RFID chip can be a MiFare® DesFire.

These hybrid chip cards are mostly used when different systems are need to be operated with one card. Such as an older time recording with contact reader and a new access control that is contactless based on MiFare®.

Typical Applications:
♦ Access and time recording
♦ School and student ID cards
♦ Ticketing & Public Transport
